Barrier

Barrier generation creates a virtual shield that protects against damage to an amount determined by skills and items. Once the timer has expired or the Barrier points have been depleted through damage taken the damage will start to reduce your health.

What does Barrier Look Like

The player's Health Globe shows a blue hue indicating there is an active Barrier. The Barrier value can not be greater than your Base Life.

Blue hue indicates Barrier is active.

Monsters with the Status Effect Barrier have their names surrounded in a blue hue which reduces as the Barrier runs out.

Iron Skin Steel yourself, gaining a Barrier that absorbs 50% of your missing Life for 5 seconds. Damage: Physical Cooldown: 14 seconds Tags: Defensive
Enhanced Iron Skin Iron Skin's Barrier absorbs 20% more of your Maximum Life. Requires point in Iron Skin.
Tactical Iron Skin While Iron Skin is active, Heal for 10% of the Barrier's original amount as Life per second. Requires point in Enhanced Iron Skin.

Earthen Bulwark Rocks surround you for 3 seconds, granting a Barrier that absorbs 45% of you Base Life in damage. Type: Nature Magic Cooldown: 16 seconds Lucky Hit Chance: 30% Tags: Defensive, Nature Magic, Earth
Innate Earthen Bulwark Rock shrapnel flies outward when Earthen Bulwark is destroyed or expires, dealing 30% to surrounding enemies. This damage is increased by Barrier bonuses.

Greater Ice Shards While you have a Barrier active, Ice Shards always receives its bonuses against Frozen enemies.

Flame Shield Engulf yourself in flames for 2 seconds, Burning surrounding enemies for 40% damage per second. While Flame Shield is active, you are Immune. Cooldown: 20 seconds Enchantment Slot Effect Flame Shield automatically activates when you take fatal damage. Can only happen once every 120 seconds. Ice Armor A Barrier of ice forms around you for 6 seconds, absorbing 30% of your Base Life in damage. While Ice Armor is active, 5% of your damage dealt is added to Barrier. Cooldown: 20 seconds. Mystical Ice Armor Damage against Vulnerable enemies contributes 50% more to Ice Armor's Barrier.
Conjuration Tree
Protection Using a cooldown grants 10 / 20 / 30% of your Maximum Life as a Barrier for 3 seconds. Requires a point in Align the Elements.
Mastery Tree
Icy Veil Your Barriers have a +8% increased duration.
Cold Front While you have a Barrier active, you apply x 8% / 16% / 24% more Chill. Requires point in Icy Veil.
Ultimate Tree
Prime Deep Freeze When Deep Freeze ends, gain 10% of your Base Life as a Barrier for 6 seconds for each enemy you Froze while it was active.
